Field Trip: Hernando County Landfill

This trip will be led by Carmen Bruno, Recycling Coordinator, Hernando County's Solid Waste and Recycling Department

For safety reasons, no open toe shoes are allowed on landfill property.

We observe social distancing and masks are required.

The number of participants is limited so please reserve your spot early. When you make your reservation the trip coordinator will let you know where and at what time in the morning the group will meet.

What we might see:

Landfills attract a variety of birds, including eagles, gulls, crows, and ducks.
Photographs of several species that have been seen at the landfill are below.

Field Trip Guidelines
Fields trips are open to everyone interested in birding. Non-members are welcome.

To participate, contact the trip leader to make a reservation and to confirm time and meeting place.
