We expect to see several species of carnivorous plants, spring migrant birds, wildflowers, and butterflies, and if we're lucky maybe a Red-cockaded Woodpecker or two in the colony on the trail.
If coming from the west side of Hernando County:
Meet at 6:45 a.m. in the parking lot south of Hardee's on U.S. 19 (6292 Commercial Way).
If coming from the east side of Hernando County:
Meet at 6:30 a.m. in the Big Lots parking lot at the intersection of Cortez Blvd. and U.S. 41 (Broad Street).
Both groups will meet at approximately 7:30 a.m. on the southwest corner of the Crystal River Mall on U.S. 19 to consolidate and to further car pool if necessary. It takes another 30 to 45 minutes to get to the forest.
